Andy: Hello everyone, Andy here with each trailer.com, and today we're going to take a look at the PTC custom fit cabin air filter on our 2021 Toyota Tacoma.So when it comes time to replacing your cabin air filter, it is going to be pretty straightforward as far as the installation process, but not only is this going to protect your heating and air conditioning system, but it is going to block 90% of bacteria, mold spores, any other type of things that we can breathe in or things that could possibly damage our heating and air conditioning system. It's just going to make it a more enjoyable ride in the vehicle.Now as far as the installation, it is straightforward, especially for our Toyota Tacoma. So let's go ahead and take a look at that now. Now to replace your cabin filter, you can access inside your glove box here, there is a panel that says, "Slide up and remove." We're just going to go ahead and slide that up until it pops out of place, and then from there we can just pull that back and set it right here.And now there are two clips, one on the left and one on the right. We're just going to go ahead and pinch those in in order to remove this panel here. We can set that aside as well. more

Now what a cabin filter is going to do for your truck is the same thing what a furnace filter does for your house. All that air coming into our truck is going to get filtered through here, before it comes through our vent. And the charcoal on our filter is going to make sure that everybody that has those breathing problems, maybe allergies or anything else, this is going to do a really good job of clearing out those odors and pollen and materials, or anything else that may get in and cause us some breathing issues.Because let's face it, a cabin filter is probably one of the last things you're thinking about. And I know we've all been in that situation, we're at the service center, we're getting an oil change or another service done on our truck, and somebody offers to replace our cabin filter for us. And it's also going to make sure that any larger pieces get caught before it goes through our system, potentially causing either noise with the blower motor or causing a lot of back pressure when it gets through the system, causing damage down the road. And I know we've all been in that situation where we'll be at the service center, maybe getting an oil change or another service done on our truck. Somebody comes up and tells us, "Hey, your cabin filter's dirty, we can replace it for you." Well, I know a lot of us are kind of on edge about that because usually when you go to service centers, somebody's always trying to sell you something else. But, not to mention, "You really don't need to pay anybody to do it."It's an extremely easy process that you can do on your own. And the manufacturer is going to recommend that you at least check it, if not change it, every 12 to 15,000 miles, but you do want to double-check your Tundra's owner's manual for a specific time. more

So if we have breathing problems like asthma or anything else, checking your cabin filter and keeping it clean will definitely help out because a lot of people don't realize that the inside air, that's inside the cabin and your truck, can actually be up to six times dirtier than the air outside because once it comes through, there's nowhere for it to ventilate. So all the exhaust coming from the other cars on the road, road debris, all that stuff's coming in and ended up getting trapped and hopefully your filter can catch it all before it gets through your HVAC system, potentially causing damage.Now, I know a lot of us have been down to the service center, getting an oil change or any other service, and somebody might recommend that you need a new cabin filter and they're offering to do it for you. But I'll tell you from firsthand experience, this is one of the easiest things to replace in your Tundra and there's no need to pay anybody to do it. more

It's going to filter all the air coming into our car, clean it and make sure it's nice and fresh so when it comes out of our vent we don't have any allergens or pollutants coming through.Another thing our filter's going to do is it's going to make sure that any larger debris gets trapped and it doesn't get through the system causing any failure to the fan or any other components in our heating or cooling system. It's really important to at least check your filter every 12,000 miles or about once a year.We're going to start out on the passenger side. We'll open up our glove box and if we move to the very outside edge on the passenger side, we'll find a shock dampener that keeps the glove box from moving down too fast or too hard.These will be really easy when you just come to the inside and kind of push the rod going towards the outside. It'll pop right off, and just push it out of the way. We're going to grab the edges of our glove box here on the side. more

PTC Custom Fit Charcoal Cabin Air Filter Installation - 2018 Toyota RAV4- Video

Today on our 2018 Toyota RAV4, we're going to be taking a look at showing you how to install the PTC Custom Fit Cabin Air Filter. Here you can see there's quite a bit of difference between our new cabin filter and our old one. Now obviously you can see that our old cabin filter is working because it's actually starting to turn brown, but if we open up the pleats, we can see that there are larger pieces that are getting caught in our filter. Which, if those larger pieces get past the filter and make their way into our cooling system, it can do a lot of damage and cause a lot of back pressure in the system.But with our new cabin filter, it's going to make sure that it filters out all those particles and allergens in the air so we can have fresh air, make sure it's healthy when we're inside of our RAV4. Now the real big difference between the one we pulled out and the one we're going to put in, is that the new one is actually a charcoal filter, so it's going to do a lot better with filtering out odors, whether it's smoke or exhaust fumes, than the standard white media filter.Whenever we're driving down the road, car maintenance is typically one of the last things we're thinking about. Usually people remember, "Oh, I need to get my oil changed, and I need to fill up with fuel," but their cabin filter's one of the last things on their mind. more
